Lazienki Palace (also called Palace on the Isle or Water) stands on 76 hectare area where are combine elements of a traditional French garden with English park. This is the centre of numerous cultural and scientific events, and is a favourite point for residents and tourists for taking a stroll. Originally a bathhouse for powerful aristocrat Stanislaw Lubomirski, it was completely remodelled by Poland's last King Stanislaw August Poniatowski (1764-95), who made it his summer residence. Beside the Palace you can find in the park also the Stanislavian Theatre, White Pavilion, Myślewicki Palace, Chopin monument (1926), Old Orangery, a classicist Amphitheatre loosely inspired by Herculaneum and many other monuments and buildings.
