Located near Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum is a Dutch National museum of Art and History, which has on display 8,000 objects including e.g. masterpieces by Rembrandt, Frans Hals, and Johannes Vermeer and a small Asian collection in the Asian pavilion. The museum was established in 1800 in Hague and 8 years later was moved to Amsterdam. On April 2013, after a ten-year renovation which cost € 375 million, the main building was reopened by Queen Beatrix. In 2013 it was one the most visited museum in the Netherlands (with a record number of 2.2 million visitors).

If you are into culture and art then you really should visit this museum. It's a must. I went here for three times now, with my friends or alone, when I want to learn about history. The art that is on display is amazing and I definitely recommend visiting it.
