The "Heuriger" inns are very popular in Austria: they are a kind of wine taverns where you can buy and taste the young wine. Hengl-Haselbrunner is an excellent traditional Heurigen in a quiet residential neighborhood. Outstanding fresh white wines and a delectable buffet with regional specialties. The informal atmosphere and moderate cost. Be seated at a simple wooden table and order a glass of their Reisling.

If you are visiting Vienna during the 'warm months" as we did , go for old Vienna tradition - Heurigen. most of these establisments are placed in somewhat remote part of Vienna ( Grinzing ) but worth the trip. They serve mainly "local Austrian food" , austrian wines and AWESOME desserts. The apple strudel we had at HENGEL was awesome. And you must sit outdoors in the garden.
